SPEAKER: Andrew S. Kraft, MD | Professor of Medicine, and Cellular and Molecular Medicine; Director, UA Cancer Center; Senior Associate Dean, Translational Research, UA College of Medicine Tucson; Associate Vice President, Oncology Programs, UA Health Sciences; and the Sydney E. Salmon Endowed Chair, University of Arizona, Tucson

Monday, Nov. 5, 2018
Noon - 1 p.m.

Through the Science Exchange Collaborative with Ventana Medical Systems, University of Arizona faculty will have access to distinguished speakers Ventana periodically invites to Tucson. The Collaborative's next lecture will be delivered by Andrew S. Kraft, MD, professor and director of the University of Arizona Cancer Center.

Prostate cancer tumorigenesis frequently is linked to the uncontrolled activation of pro-survival kinases, such as Pim and AKT.

Drugs targeting the Pim protein kinase are under development in the clinic. Is it worth developing a companion diagnostic focusing on sensitivity to this protein kinase?

This seminar will focus on the overlap between the function of the Pim and AKT kinases and why the Pim kinases may be an escape mechanism when the AKT pathway is inhibited.

Due to limited space, these seminars are available to the first 20 UA faculty members who RSVP. Please contact Matt Peters, mwpeters@email.arizona.edu, to RSVP.

Visitors coming from the UA with MD degrees need to sign a form to be in compliance with the Sunshine Act.
