2018 Special Workshop: Enabling Technologies for Cell Transplantation and Regenerative Medicine

Friday, October 12, 2018 - 12:00pm to 7:00pm

The Institute for Cellular Transplantation with the University of Arizona Department of Surgery cordially invites you to attend the 2018 Special Workshop on “Enabling Technologies for Cell Transplantation and Regenerative Medicine.” This inaugural workshop, sponsored principally by the Cell Transplant and Regenerative Medicine Society, will take place Oct. 12-14, 2018, at the J.W. Marriott Starr Pass Resort & Spa in Tucson, Ariz.

At this two-day workshop, key opinion leaders and experts in the fields of bio-imaging, cell targeting, oxygenation, and viability and potency assays (especially for encapsulated cells) will come together to present and discuss cutting-edge research and developments in these key areas and to address remaining critical gaps in encapsulated cell therapies and tissue engineering.

Keynote speakers and topics include:

  • Allan Ertmann, PhD, VP of global research external affairs for Novo Nordisk – “Stem Cell Therapy, Opportunities, and Challenges from a Pharmaceutical Perspective”
  • Maria Koulmanda, PhD, associate professor, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center – “The Role of the Innate Versus the Adaptive Immunity in Cell Transplantation”
  • Robert C. Johnson, PhD, research professor, Institute of Cellular Transplantation at the University of Arizona – “Macroencapsulation as a Safe Means to Deliver Therapeutic Cells and Proteins to Patients”
  • Jeff W.M. Bulte, PhD, director of cellular imaging, The Johns Hopkins Institute for Cell Engineering – “Non-Invasive Tracking of Naked, Scaffolded, or Encapsulated Cells in Vivo”

Save your spot by registering at: https://www.ctrms.ca/cgi/page.cgi/26/register.html. Discounted rates are offered to new and existing members of the Cell Transplant and Regenerative Medicine Society. In addition, the CTRMS will be offering 40 medical trainees (students, residents, fellows) FREE registration for the event on a first-come, first-served basis.
