Virtual screening of Brother Outsider with MedPride, ODEI, SDAC, and AAMSA

Tuesday, June 30, 2020 - 6:00pm

UA-COMT MedPride wanted to create an event to cap off Pride Month as well as honor some of the important Black and Brown voices within our community. We are collaborating with the Office of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion, the Student Diversity Advisory Committee, and the African-American Medical Student Association on a virtual screening of Brother Outsider, a documentary depicting the life of Bayard Rustin, an openly gay African-American man who was an advisor to Martin Luther King Jr. and a lead organizer of the March on Washington.  We hope you will join us via Zoom from 6-8 pm on Tuesday, June 30th to watch this film together, educate ourselves about this important figure in Civil Rights history, and participate in a discussion around intersectionality.

Register in advance for this meeting:

After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting.

We at MedPride would also like to acknowledge the incredible contributions of the Black transgender women at Stonewall, without whom, Pride would not exist! If you would like to learn a little more about the origins of Pride Month or the incredible contributions of Black transgender women like Marsha P Johnson to the LGBTQIA+ rights movement, then please click here!

Happy Pride! We hope to see you Tuesday!
