Dr. Slepian is a prolific inventor with more than 55 issued and filed patents and has been the founder of numerous medical device companies including SynCardia Systems, Inc., the maker of the CardioWest Temporary Total Artificial Heart (TAH-t). He also is an Adjunct Professor, Biomedical Engineering, Stony Brook University, Stony Brook, N.Y., and Oral Biology, University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ)/Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences, Newark, N.J.
