TOPIC: "Host Metabolism: Feeding and Starving of Viral Infections"
SPEAKER: John G. Purdy, PhD
WHERE: UAHS COM-T 6120
WHEN: Tuesday, April 2, 2019 | 11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.
About the speaker:
Dr. Purdy is an Assistant Professor of Immunobiology at the University of Arizona and Faculty Fellow in the BIO5 Institute. He earned a PhD in structural biology of retroviral capsid assembly from the Pennsylvania State University College of Medicine in Hershey, PA. Dr. Purdy was a postdoctoral fellow at Princeton University in the Lewis-Sigler Institute for Integrative Genomics where he studied the viral hijacking of host metabolism using metabolomics. At the University of Arizona, his research focuses on defining how metabolism supports herpesvirus replication and how metabolism can be used to limit infection.
