International Mendel Day 2019

Friday, March 8, 2019 - 4:00pm to 5:00pm

Join us for a SPECIAL EVENT hosted by Drs. Christina LaukaitisRobert C. Karn and Keith Maggert to revel in what has come to be a celebration of the roots of genetic research.

Friday, March 8, 2019 | 4-5 p.m.
UA Cancer Center 4th Floor Conference Room (4978)

Light refreshments will be served at the 4th annual celebration honoring the work of Gregor Johan Mendel (1822-84), an Augustinian friar, abbot of St. Thomas' Abbey in Brno, Czech Republic, and scientist considered the father of genetics. The event's program will include a discussion of Mendel’s contributions as the first modern biologist (who cross-bred peas for local farmers to grow and coined the terms “recessive” and “dominant” in reference to certain genetic traits).
