About the Speaker
Magdalene So, PhD, is a Professor in the Immunobiology Department and a member of the BIO5 Institute. Her research focuses on Neisseria gonorrhoeae and Neisseria meningitidis. Using genetics, genomics, biochemistry, and high resolution imaging, she seeks to understand the mechanisms by which these pathogens establish asymptomatic infection. Her interest now includes commensal Neisseria, and she seeks to understand how commensal and pathogenic Neisseria interact on mucosal surfaces.
