The Conversation

The Conversation, an independent, not-for-profit news source committed to communicating the work of scholars, is coming to the University of Arizona Health Sciences on Wednesday, Feb. 5, from 3-4 p.m. Join us in the Health Sciences Innovation Building, Room 305, on the third floor of HSIB.

We strongly encourage you to bring colleagues who are faculty members and researchers from your college or center interested in sharing their work with the news media and public. The sessions are intended to help faculty members understand how the process works for inclusion. Presentations will be given by two representatives from The Conversation, with time for questions at the end.

By way of background, The Conversation makes all of its articles available at no charge to news organizations; The Associated Press distributes the articles to newsrooms throughout the country.

Faculty, researchers and communicators are encouraged to attend a session. Refreshments will be served.

About The Conversation

The Conversation is a global network of not-for-profit media outlets that publish news stories written by academics and researchers. It arose out of deep-seated concerns for the fading quality of our public discourse – and recognition of the vital role that academic experts can play in the public arena. Independent and not-for-profit, it was first launched in Australia in 2011, began its U.S. operations in 2014, and now also publishes in the UK, France, Indonesia, Africa, Spain.

As part of the solution to improving trust in media, The Conversation’s approach has hit a responsive chord. Its U.S. articles were read over 95 million times in 2018, in every state of the nation. Today, The Conversation US has relationships with scholars at more than 625 U.S. colleges and universities, and has published more than 9,000 articles, with tens of thousands of readers for every article.
