Shrikant Lab

The Shrikant laboratory is focused on understanding molecular and cellular mechanisms regulating antigen specific CD8+ T cell responses with the objective of developing new approaches for tumor immunity. The investigations are designed to identify the mechanisms whereby cell extrinsic signals; antigen, co-stimulation and cytokines, are integrated to regulate metabolism and/or transcription that determine the fate of antigen specific CD8+ T cells.  These fundamental insights are applied to the development of new immunization and adoptive cell transfer (ACT) approaches for tumor immunity.  Several animal models representing distinct forms of T cell tolerance are employed to validate the robustness of the approaches developed and translate them for clinical benefit.
