Ventana Research Lecture on Skin Carcinogenesis and Photoprotective Therapeutics

Monday, June 4, 2018 - 12:00pm to 1:00pm

“Modulation of Skin Stress Response Pathways for Photoprotection and Photochemoprevention”

Georg T. Wondrak, PhD — Associate Professor, Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology, University of Arizona College of Pharmacy

Monday, June 4, 2018 | Noon - 1 p.m.
Auditorium 5104 ABCD, Ventana Medical Systems, 1910 E. Innovation Park Dr.

Through the Science Exchange Collaborative with Ventana Medical Systems, University of Arizona faculty will have access to distinguished speakers Ventana periodically invites to Tucson. The Collaborative's next lecture will be delivered by Georg T. Wondrak, PhD, Associate Professor, Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology, University of Arizona College of Pharmacy.

Dr. Wondrak's research is focused on the pathological role of oxidative and proteotoxic stress in skin carcinogenesis and solar photodamage. His lab identified critical molecular targets that mediate UV-induced skin alterations and contribute to the pathogenesis of non-melanoma and melanoma skin cancers. These studies contribute to the development of novel experimental therapeutics for skin photoprotection and anti-melanoma intervention.

Dr. Wondrak's laboratory recently explored the photoprotective efficacy of small molecule antagonists that target receptors involved in inflammatory signaling including RAGE and TLR4.

Due to limited space, these seminars are available to the first 20 UA faculty members who RSVP. Please RSVP with Matt Peters at mwpeters@email.arizona.edu

Visitors coming from the UA with MD degrees need to sign a form to be in compliance with the Sunshine Act.
