Dr. Makris earned her undergraduate degree from University of California - San Diego, medical degree from the George Washington University Medical Center, and completed her residency in internal medicine at the University of Washington in Seattle. She also completed a rheumatology fellowship at Yale University, where she also started her clinical research training with a focus specifically on aging research. Her research interests include back pain in older adults: describing its epidemiology, understanding its impact in the context of multi-morbidity, and identifying appropriate outcomes.
