About the Speaker:
Caleb Lauber was born and raised on the Navajo Reservation. He is from the Honágháahnii (One-walks-around) clan and the Táchii'nii (Red Running Into the Water People) clan. He was lucky enough to be brought up with his entire family, relatives and Navajo clan supporting him throughout his young life. He graduated from Baylor University in 1984 and the University of Arizona College of Medicine in 1991. His family practice residency was completed in 1994 at Phoenix Baptist Hospital Residency Program where he also taught medical students and residents after graduation.  He completed an MBA from the University of Phoenix in 1996. He speaks 4½ languages (German has slipped). He has worked primarily as a hospitalist in many hospitals throughout Phoenix, Ariz. Currently, he is the clinical director of a large multi-specialty IHS clinic in Tohatchi, N.M. He is an accomplished pianist and continues to volunteer as a pianist for the First United Methodist Church in Gallup, N.M. He also volunteers with the “Red Rock orchestra” in Gallup, N.M. His other activities include music writing, building “little houses,” and serving with medical missions to Haiti.
